Optimising space and light
Originally designed as a stable or coach house annexe to the main building, mews houses were not known for their bright, open interiors. At Eccleston Mews, the existing space was transformed to create a home with an unprecedented sense of light and volume.
On entry, a dramatic, triple-height entrance area inspires a sensation of spaciousness. The inclusion of large roof lights at key points draws considerable amounts of daylight down into the lower floors, while the clever use of mirrors throughout the property helps to further amplify the sense of space. The use of high-gloss finishes on the ceilings and kitchen units play their part in reflecting and dispersing light. |
A palatial entrance
Installing a magnificent helical marble staircase in this mews house proved a feat worth every effort.
